The sheer clamp is installed under the inboard side of the sheer cap. 1"H x ¾"W lengths of spanish cedar are pre-drilled to accept 1½" annular nails to ensure the wood does not split.

The sheer clamp is glued, clamped and nailed.

Since the cedar is not available in long planks, 2 pieces are butted together on each side. An angle is cut on the end where the sheer clamp meets the transom.

The clamps are left on until the resin glue cures in about 8 hours.
