Vertical Ribs

A template is used to outline the shape of the vertical ribs.

The vertical ribs are then rough cut on a band saw.

The ribs are then shaped on a router table, a stationary belt sander can also be used for this step (it's harder to make all ribs identical on a sander).

Shaped vertical ribs are then numbered to corresponding horizontal ribs.

Each rib is cut, fitted and jointed at an angle to fit parallel to the horizontal ribs and flush against the hull.

Each vertical rib is then clamped to a horizontal rib and glued in place along the rib lines that were drawn when laying out the hull sides.

Vertical ribs are then attached to the horizontal ribs and the hull with annular nails.
